Meet Sarah Jane

Psychotherapist and Divorce Coach

Hi, I’m Sarah Jane, a psychotherapist and the founder of Leap Therapy.

I created this practice for people who are ready to take the next step—

whether that means healing, self-discovery, or breaking free from old patterns.

I know that taking that leap can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone.

My Approach to Therapy
At the heart of my work is the belief that therapy should be a safe, non-judgmental

space to explore your thoughts, emotions, and experiences at your own pace.

I take a warm, human-centred approach—that's compassionate, collaborative, and,

when appropriate, gently challenging. Healing isn’t always linear, and everyone’s journey

is different. Whether you’re navigating a life transition, struggling with self-worth, or trying

to untangle the impact of past experiences, my goal is to help you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

My Background

Before founding Leap Therapy, I have worked in both private and community healthcare, supporting individuals through a range of mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, and grief. Clinically I have experience working with HIV-positive individuals, mothers facing postnatal and adoptive depression, and neurodivergent individuals with autism and ADHD. This work has deepened my understanding of how mental health intersects with identity, relationships, and life transitions.

In addition to my private practice, I worked as a trauma therapist for a multinational health company in Johannesburg. There, I provided specialised support for individuals navigating high-impact stress, crises, and complex trauma. My experience in private, clinical, and crisis settings allows me to support a wide range of mental health needs, from acute distress interventions to long-term healing and personal growth.

I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), a Gottman Trained Therapist, and a Sara Davison Certified Divorce Coach. I hold a BA in Applied Social Sciences (Counselling and Psychology) and an Honours in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), which inform my integrative approach to therapy.

Beyond clinical work, I have years of experience as a grief counsellor and humanist chaplain, helping individuals navigate some of life’s most difficult moments. I understand the importance of having a space to process pain without pressure to “move on” before feeling ready. My work as a celebrant has also deepened my appreciation for life’s transitions—whether joyful, sorrowful, or somewhere in between.

Why Leap Therapy

Why Choose Leap Therapy?

Specialising in

A lotus in a pond

Grief & Loss

Grief isn’t just about death; it can arise from any significant loss—a relationship, a way of life, an identity, or even a dream we once held. I provide a
compassionate space to explore the complex emotions that come with grief, helping you
process and find meaning in your own time.

Family Roles &
Childhood Dynamics

Many of us grow up in family systems that unconsciously shape our sense of self. You may find these roles continuing to
influence your relationships, career, and self-esteem. I help clients recognise these patterns and work toward a healthier, more authentic sense of self.

NeuroDiversity

I provide a safe, understanding space for neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and autism. Together, we’ll explore strategies that honor your unique way of thinking, helping you navigate relationships, work, and daily life—without the pressure to conform to neurotypical norms or expectations. My goal is to empower you with practical tools that support your well-being.

Therapy After an Affair

Infidelity can shake the foundation of a relationship, leaving both partners overwhelmed with pain, guilt, or uncertainty. Whether you're healing from betrayal or seeking to rebuild trust, therapy offers a supportive space to process emotions, foster understanding, and navigate the path forward—together or apart.

Premarital Counselling

Marriage is a lifelong commitment, and premarital counselling helps couples navigate important conversations before saying "I do." By exploring topics like communication, finances & future goals, partners can strengthen their bond, address potential challenges, and lay the groundwork for a healthy, lasting relationship.

Divorce Coaching & Counselling

Divorce is a challenging transition, but the right support can make a difference. Divorce coaching focuses on minimizing conflict and handling practical matters, while divorce counselling helps individuals process emotions, heal from loss, and rebuild their lives with clarity and resilience for the future.

Marital Counselling

Before considering divorce, marriage counselling offers a chance to explore underlying issues, improve communication, and rebuild trust. It provides a supportive space for both partners to reflect on their emotional needs, understand patterns of behavior, and work toward healthier conflict resolution, fostering the potential for meaningful change.

Emigration/Immigration

Relocating can bring excitement, but it also comes with challenges—grief, identity shifts, and cultural adjustments. Whether you're an immigrant, expatriate, or part of a multicultural family, I provide a supportive space to process these emotions and find a sense of belonging.

Take the Leap

Seeking therapy is a brave and powerful step. It’s an acknowledgment that you deserve
support, growth, and healing. At Leap Therapy, my role isn’t to give you all the answers but
to walk alongside you as you explore your own. My hope is that, through our work together,
you’ll gain greater clarity, self-compassion, and confidence in your ability to navigate life’s challenges.

If you’re ready to take that leap, I’m here to help.

Client Stories

"From the very first session with Sarah Jane, I felt like I was in a safe space to share all of my thoughts and emotions. I always felt listened to, understood and never judged. The practical advice that she gave me in those sessions are still things that I think about and apply in my life nearly five years later.

Once, a small tadpole swam in the murky depths of a quiet pond, unaware of the potential within. It swam in circles, thinking this was all there was to life. But deep inside, change was stirring. Tiny buds of legs began to emerge, pushing the tadpole beyond its comfort zone. Though uncomfortable, the transformation was purposeful.

As legs grew and lungs formed, the tadpole realised: transformation isn’t about becoming something new, but about uncovering the potential that was always there. One bright morning, the frog leapt from the pond, wings of possibility unfurling. The leap wasn’t an end, but a beginning—a moment of courage that opened a world of new possibilities.

At Leap Therapy, we believe in your capacity to transform. Just like the frog, you have the power to leap beyond your current limitations. Whether you’re navigating grief, trauma, relationship changes, or challenges with self-esteem, we’re here to guide you as you uncover the strength, resilience, and wisdom that are already inside of you. Your journey of transformation may feel uncomfortable at times, but it will always lead you to new possibilities for growth, healing, and the life you deserve
